Obviously when you consider buying a pair of Monster Cable Beats by Dr. Dre Studio High Definition Headphones, the first thing that jumps out at you is the price. Since most people use whatever headphones are shipped with said device, the thought of spending upwards of $300 can be dismissed without thought. But let’s say you decide not to dismiss without thought. Lets say you were willing to purchase if it made sense. After all, music is your life, right? I’m sure you want the best headphones out there.

The outside of the headphones are super glossy, which makes them stand out some. On the inside of the band you’ll find the words “studio” engraved on one side and the “monster” logo on the other. The first pair of these headphones I ever saw had a Boston Red Sox theme about it. It’s not that I am a die hard baseball fan, or even that I like the Red Sox, it’s just that these headphones were sharp looking. Of course your pair would not have to have any emblem on them at all. Monster Beats Studio’s are available in white, black, or they can be customized for an additional fee. With the price already being what it is, though, I don’t suspect many will customize their pair.
- As Comfortable As They Come
Although super comfortable to wear, it’s been said that they feel a bit cheap, flimsy, actually. I can see why people say that, but to me they don’t feel cheap. The problem, if you want to call it that is they are light. They don’t look like they would be lightweight, but they are, and I don’t know how I feel about that either. The ear-cups move freely about, again something that can be a positive or a negative, depending on your preference. But when you put these headphones on, they are awfully comfortable.
- HUGE BASS!
The bass is amazing! They truly are second to none in that department. They say these headphones were made for the average listener to hear music the way the producer is supposed to hear it. I have to agree with that. My favorite part of the headphones are the noise canceling feature. Wearing them will drown out just about anything. Perfect for an airplane or subway setting. But as great as it is to silence your surroundings whenever you wish, it is that same feature that leads me to everyone’s least favorite part of the headphones.
- Requires Batteries
Predictably, at least to anyone that has ever reviewed Monster Cable Beats by Dr. Dre Studio High Definition Headphones, the biggest complaint on record is the 2 AAA battery requirement. Why in the world would such an expensive pair of headphones require batteries? The answer is, they are needed to power the noise canceling feature (my favorite part, remember)? Of course that begs the question “do I need the batteries if I opt out of using the noise canceling feature”? I wish. But no. No batteries, no headphones. This was a real irritant to me in the beginning. Now though, I keep a bunch and if I have to change them once a month, it’s really not that big of a deal.
